Research

AUN has a vigorous and expanding program of research that explores today's frontiers in science, policy, economics, business, and information technology. Many of our projects are interdisciplinary, with investigators from different departments and schools collaborating on multifaceted investigations. A common term in AUN's research community is "Development-driven Research Collaboration", referring to the way that our faculty team up (sometimes with counterparts in state agencies or other universities around the world) to develop solutions to some of Africa's most pressing problems and latent opportunities.

AUN's research benefits from well equipped laboratories, libraries, and information systems that support scientific investigation, data analysis, information management, and advanced communications strategies. We also conduct field research, studying poverty in the villages, business strategies in the city, and resource deterioration associated with pollution, unsustainable agriculture, and desertification, as well as health risks in local communities and hospitals. AUN is uniquely poised to become one of the world's leading research institutions by virtue of our faculty, internal resources, and location in one of Africa's neediest regions for development. While our faculty are leading scholars in their own right, they also engage students in their investigations and help the best of them publish papers that will ensure strong starts to their careers or winning applications to the graduate school of their choice.
