Campus Security

In July 2011, AUN established a professional security force led by accomplished American Criminologist Dr. Lionel Rawlins. Nearly 400 security guards were trained on campus. Before they were selected, they were given an entrance exam on critical thinking, analytical thinking, and writing comprehension.

All of the rank-and-file trainees have a high school diploma, and can communicate effectively in the English language. All security supervisors have baccalaureate degrees.

AUN’s professionally trained security guards are stationed 24 hours a day at the entrances of both main and north campus, within each of the residence halls, throughout the various buildings and facilities on campus as well as around University owned faculty housing and auxiliary buildings. AUN constantly revisits its security arrangements to adapt to challenging circumstances.
