Recycling Centre

The AUN recycling centre has been built from Ecobricks, plastic bottles filled and compacted with sand to make them 10 times stronger than cement blocks

Ecobricks

Ready-made Ecobricks for building

Yola EcoSentials

Twice a year ladies from the community are invited to AUN and train in the weaving of plastic bags

Energy Conservation

A strong theme on campus, launched last November 2013 with a big, loud Bike ride round campus

Banana Planting Activity

GEN101 students are taught how to plant a banana tree under the supervision of Rotimi

Office of Sustainability

The Office of Sustainability at AUN is a fairly new department - first set up in 2012 by Dr Charles Reith, Director of Sustainability, and a team of committed individuals, Raymond Obindu, Administrative Assistant, Michael Ahmed, Energy Consultant, Rotimi Ogundijo Agricultural Researcher and Farm Manager, Jennifer Che, Coordinatior of Sustainability Programs and Andrew Tigirke.

All the projects continue to be developed and promoted while new initiatives continue to make the agenda. The overall purpose of Sustainability’s activities is showcase AUN as the first ‘green’ and sustainable university in the country.

The Sustainability team thanks all the departments, and especially Senior Management, as they become advocates and role models to the AUN community. Our ‘greener’ vision cannot be possible without YOU!
